The Friends of Tunbridge Wells Museum, Library and Art Gallery
The Friends of Tunbridge Wells Museum, Library and Art Gallery is a charitable organisation that aims to support the Museum, Library and Art Gallery in promoting our local heritage.
As a Friend, you will be demonstrating community support for the Museum, Library and Art Gallery and its future development as well as enjoying events and outings.
The Friends of Tunbridge Wells Museum, Library and Art Gallery play an important role in promoting the Museum and Library services, collections and activities by raising funds, volunteering and lending support. By becoming a Friend you will be helping to maintain the high standards of this valuable local resource and promote its future development.
For as little as £8 per year you will:
- Be invited to take part in activities throughout the year
- Be kept informed about developments and opportunities in the Museum, Library and Art Gallery
- Gain an insight into what goes on 'behind the scenes'
- Know that you are making a difference to the future of this wonderful cultural centre of our community

Conservation Volunteer– Local Studies and Borough Archives collections
This new volunteer role will help us improve the long-term preservation of collections, whilst developing new skills, making new friends and uncovering hidden histories.
Content Researcher Volunteer
To assist the Culture Team in researching and devising content for possible inclusion in the creation of new digital heritage trails being developed for the Cultural and Learning Hub in Tunbridge Wells
The Engagement Volunteer will help the Culture Team provide a positive visitor experience at activities and events as well as helping to ensure all visitors are made to feel welcome.
Oral History Volunteer – A Field of Faces project
You will support an external specialist (oral historian/photographer) in recording personal perspectives on the Weald’s unique picking industry heritage.
Video Archivist Volunteer
To assist the Culture Team to make and edit video recordings which document the development of the new Cultural and Learning Hub in Tunbridge Wells.
Oral History Volunteer – Women’s History project
This volunteer research and oral history project will seek to chart and reveal how life has changed for women of all ages living in Tunbridge Wells and The Weald region post-1945 to the present day.
